XIII. Death: Transformation

Explanation of this card

“From terrestrial to spiritual consciousness”

Dying is something we do a little bit at a time, just as each day brings a little bit more understanding of life and more insight in what makes us tick. Even more so: death and being confronted with mortality, is the strongest impulse of all.  It teaches us what we stand for; what is really important and what life is all about ‘in the end’.

In the culturally conditioned perspective of a materialistic consumers society, the symbol of death is preferably ignored. It symbolizes after all something that is terminal; something that ends life. In its esoteric meaning however, this finality does not exist, as human life on earth is seen as an interval in an ongoing cycle of birth and rebirth, expansion and development of what humanity is capable of.

Human beings – and therewith humanity – develops within the frame of each life time and each initiative taken during that lifetime. Each lifetime, and everything a human being undertakes, is part of the process of development. All experience gathered during a lifetime, is contributed to the spiritual world.
Deep down inside, this is a given fact for each and everyone. Even the most matter-oriented person, will, with the ‘end’ in sight, weigh the odds and think of what he or she always still wanted to do or regrets not having done, realizing gathering matter is not as important as gathering experience.

In essence a human being is a spiritual being, temporarily on earth to live after a contract on which the meant to be experiences are listed. Each Storyteller has freedom of choice in how these experiences are gathered, how they are gathered and what outcome they are to generate for the greater good.

Tool: The Bucket List

What would you do, when you could temporarily yet entirely dismiss the importance of matter; it playing no part in your life whatsoever? What on your to-do list, do you want to reach for, before stepping from this life to the source you also originate from? And what is it that defines your choice?  The question card number XIII basically asks, is: What do you need, to transform your terrestrial way of thinking into spiritual thought?

Characteristics of the Transformation card

‘This too shall pass’, ‘memento mori.  Keep in mind every act in life is part of a building block of personal development. Living in the present, the now (as well as ‘the here’). Transformation

Individual properties of this card

Trump Cards: Evolving Soul

The Trump Cards, or archetypes are numbered I through XXI, and are distributed over three layers of seven cards each.

1. the Temporal Body (cards I-VII)
2. the Evolving Soul (cards VIII-XIV)
3. the Eternal Spirit (cards XV-XXI)

The Storyteller is the unique Nil Card, who ‘ignorantly’, without preconceived notions, wanders through the experiences of the other 21 trump cards.

The second layer of the Trump Cards (cards VIII-XIV) addresses the evolving soul or peace of mind. This reflects the journey that the soul makes during its earthly existence.

Number: 13

Every number has a unique energy, and therefore a unique meaning and role in the interpretation of the card, in combination with the color or the archetype.

The number 13 appears often in esoteric history. Separately, the 1 is the number of potential, and the 3 is the number of creation. Added together, the 13 forms the number 4, which stands for balance, but with the caveat that there is more to come. It is scientific law that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
