When you’re oblivious to what I am referring to, consider yourself blessed. It means you still believe in a better world; and I simply have to agree. For survival’s sake, I have to believe that what is happening in the world right now is only the darkest hour before dawn; appropriately staged during the darkest days of the year 2019.

I have to believe the tide will turn after the winter solstice around December 21st and that humanity will witness the beginnings of change in 2020. I have to believe that what is happening now, are merely the last convulsions of an old system dying.

The problem humanity has right now, is the grip of greed, ignorance and material blindness. Apparently that’s what it takes to wake up ‘civilization'; lessons to teach the importance of seeing the good in one and other rather than the bad; the comprehension we need to dare to care for one and other rather than live off each other; the understanding that what happens to others happens to us all.

The mindset of the world today seems strangely estranged from reality. I read somewhere the other day how media headlines are designed to be negative so people are attracted to them. People seem very attracted to other people’s misery. Good news is mostly ignored. It says a lot about the state of the human collective. It also reminds me of what the American New Age teacher Wayne Dyer said about how people should use the last minutes before sleep to think about the good things they witnessed; the happenings they are grateful, rather than what many habitually do, which is mope about what lacks in their life.

I often wonder what my grandmother; who was born in 1906 and passed away in 1985, would think when she could return for one single day to December 2019. She lived through two world wars; one as a child; one as a single mother. I think she’d be absolutely shocked about today’s world; unable to comprehend what she is seeing; like so many of us in this day and age. We seem to constantly oppose each other on a global, national but also personal level; blinded by manipulative media and politics serving the needs of the already privileged (material-wealth-wise that is).

I refuse however to give in to the doom and gloom. The year to come might provide plenty of Challenges; yet my plea is to use the Gift every single human being has been given at birth; which is to see and trust the good in one and other, using the power of a mindful heart as a Tool. It’s high time for the Frodo’s of this world to toss the ring into Mount Doom….or was it the creature Gollum who destroyed itself through its own greed? Interesting food for thought.

The card I’ve chosen to go with today’s text, is ‘The World'; the last card of all Archetypal cards, enveloping the 3 worlds that play a part in our lives

Cards 1-7: The Physical World; our ways of life on earth, represented by 7 Archetypes and all tools and accessories that come with it

Cards 8-14: The Journey of The Soul during life on Earth: our subconscious knowing; the inner guide that taps on our shoulder every now and again and whispers in our mind’s ear on which way to go next; again with the 7 Archetypes that represent this path.

Cards 15-21: The Spiritual World: reflecting “All of Everything” all worlds combined, also represented in 7 Archetypes .

We’re often unaware of the World of the Journey of the Soul and the Spiritual World taking part in our lives. Perhaps they do so even more than the often illusionary Physical World. Yet the simple gesture of thoughtful attendance already has the potential to bring you closer; becoming aware there is more to world than the one we operate in.

With all that being said I wish you a content and insightful December solstice and equally inspiring Christmas and New Year to come.

Ingrid Schippers, December 17 2019

Yeaaah (Kermit style) holiday time is here! I have the honor to speak the famous last words; of the Dutchbuzz season that is, until it resumes in September. For those who are packing their suitcases to go on a well-deserved break here’s a little holiday tip;

There’s a Buddhist saying that goes:

You are not unhappy because you live in the world; you’re unhappy because the world lives in you.

So my tip is: Take a break from the tweets, mails and social media posts that tend to string our days together. Have a proper look around! Nothing beats being in the moment and enjoying the spot on earth where you are right now. No need to check your phone to see what is happening in the rest of the world.

Constantly checking a cellphone is basically like eating. When you would count the number of calories (or bites) consumed per day; you’d find you’re consuming much more than you think. Remember though that what is in that phone; what you are being fed, is only a small selection from trillions of things you could really choose from if you had a personal overview of everything that is happening in the world this very minute.

The news items are mostly about money anyway; or politicians biting each others heads off or taking the biggest share for themselves. Don’t let it ruin your day. Stay away from the commercials and temptations that urge you to buy, invest or join; thus shaping your understanding of what life outside the cellphone apparently looks like. It’s what you are told, hundreds of times per day and end up talking about with hundreds of other people a day, people you don’t even see or know; while there is so much to be found directly around you; people to talk to; things to talk about.

The information we get on what is happening in the world has shrunk to the size of a cellphone.

Without realizing it we have reached a point in evolution where we are being mass-managed and manipulated by what a relatively small group of people in power give us to read. When you start your working day; what you see on your laptop shapes your first thoughts. We live in a treadmill of tweets, commercials and social media posts and keep on running from one subject to the other.

Instead go birdwatching or go for a bike ride, watch the rabbits hop through the fields. Only use a phone when you have a flat tyre and need help. Write a postcard, letter or in a diary what your day has been like; what you’ve noticed directly around you; what moved you; what you’ve discovered.

I bet you a dollar you’ll find another world out there.

The Archetype to go with this subject is definitely The World’ itself; card number XXI; the last of the 3 rows of 7 to do with 1) life in the physical world; 2) life of the Soul and 3) life in the Spiritual world; the all encompassing Archetype of Life and All It Involves. To read more click the card.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday close to your self; a personal stay-cation

Call me a romantic, but it is my personal belief that ‘in the old days’, when we were living in tribes; sharing the results of the hunt, weaving baskets with each other for the same purpose; gathering berries and roots to make community meals – we were in a way better off than we are now.

In the present day world of Lord Economy, where our true leader is the God of Money, it’s more about how much profit a service or commodity generates, than how it serves a community or the individuals that live in it.

By now, a.d. 2017 :

there is much more money in the world than all of its population could possibly spend;

there is enough food for everyone but unevenly divided

and the most vulnerable people are placed outside of society with an ease that should bring tears to many more eyes than it does now.

Money has become the prime object; a goal rather than a means. Becoming rich, rather than fulfilled, is on top of the list of a relatively small but ruthless group of people who rule the world by dividing it and placing the larger and more vulnerable group outside of society. ‘Material blindness’ it’s called; the inability to look behind the illusion that money secures the succes of a lifetime.

This misconception mirrors itself in society through corruption, ruthlessness and abuse. Child labor in third world countries; but also here in our own so called safe western society. Amazon earned itself an article last week, written by an undercover journalist who had enlisted with the Amazon work-force and found co-workers sleeping on the work floor exhausted; some even shipped off to hospital with heart problems and other stress induced ailments; all that while being hideously underpaid, overtaxed in work load and with the owner of amazon recently proclaimed one of the richest people in the world.

I’ve written about the subject of work force abuse before because I witness it in my own environment as well. Young people working for small hourly wages wrapped in so-called zero hour contracts; meaning the amount of hours they can count on having a job is flexible; so when they are not needed they do not earn anything and when they are ill it’s tough luck as well. As a consequence these people who should become the cornerstones of next generations fail to get a chance to take root in society. All this while happy people who can go to sleep at night knowing their basic needs are safe could create and produce so much more to make this world a better place.

Having said all that, I know at the same time, many many peopl are creating change, surfing the waves of the age of aquarius that we are moving into. With the threshold of 2018 in sight I make a wish that their efforts will gain terrain and that people like the owner of amazon will be woken up, much like Scrooge in a Christmas Carol and start to understand that wealth exists in what you have to give rather than what you take.

I am huge fan of the author Michael Crichton. Most of you will know him as the author of the Jurassic Park but he has written
way more than that on a very diverse range of subjects. One that stands out for me is his autobiography , simply titled ‘Travels’. Whenever I have one of those moments where I do not know what to do with myself in my life, Travels more often than not, is the book I will pick out of my bookcase. At times it follows me around the house, from wherever I am to wherever I’m going. “There and back again”, to quote Bilbo Baggins.

What I particularly like about ‘Travels’ is that next to the stories about Crichton’s encounters and adventures around the world being smart, witty and entertaining, he is also a great Storyteller, in the sense that he explores his own mind as he travels. It is a joy to look at the world through Crichton’s eyes. He observes things others might not have noticed and although puzzled by some of them himself he so accurately describes his confusion that it sets you thinking, as if you are there with him, wondering what the heck it is all about.

Michael Crichton has been the one who made me aware that traveling,- which is something humankind has been doing since the dawn of its time,- is what jogs the human understanding of life.

There is a huge difference of course between an all inclusive holiday where one indulges oneself in the so called pleasures of life, or backpacking your way through the Himalaya’s, but somewhere in that middle, there is plenty of scope to evolve on, as some internationals might agree.

One of the reasons I find so much comfort in Crichton’s autobiography is because funnily enough as a native of my own country, The Netherlands, I feel out of place at times, perhaps just as much out of place a some internationals might do. It seems that once one chooses the path of Travel and leaves the nest, it can be mighty difficult to crawl back into the egg should the need arise. At the same time it is the need to learn how to Travel that makes us fly away.

It gets us of the couch and in touch with ourselves. It get us away from the television and the computer, even if those are not always considered a bad thing. Literally moving yourself from one place to the other gets the physical energies going and therewith the inspirational ones as well.

And while the traveling storytellers among us might feel lost at times; it is great to know that the world is on the move where it concerns our evolution-long habit to roam the world, and that there’s many like us. We may not know them all personally, but there are out there, traveling the world, just like you and me. And some write there stories down in which we can find comfort and recognition.

The World" style="float: left; margin:0 15px 15px 0;" />
When I was 23 years old, my father very unexpectedly passed away due to a medical procedure gone wrong.
I remember leaving the hospital where it happened and going back to my house.
To go home I needed to walk through a street where a typical Dutch market fair was going on, with hundreds of people strolling past the stalls buying their groceries and toiletries, doing their daily thing.

I could not comprehend how all these people could be shopping as if nothing had happened.
It was like walking in a bad dream. My world had collapsed, something horrendous had happened in my life and the people around me were going about their business as usual.

My mother and I received loving support and compassion which helped us heal and eventually get on with our lives.
The death of my father also added to our understanding of the value of life, every life, and how life can change in the flash of a moment.

This memory came back to me ever so strong, when I stood in the kitchen of my house at Scheveningen harbor on the 14th of November and heard the whistle of a boat announce the arrival of Sinterklaas, the traditional Dutch event comparable to yearly return of Santa.
I had totally forgotten about it and was flabbergasted.
How could people be gathering to celebrate a tradition, after what had happened in Paris only hours before?
How could people be doing their business as usual?

Apparently I was not the only one asking this question.
Following the news coverage of the terrorist attacks in Paris, I observed a discussion emerge,on how Paris is only part of the atrocities happening in the world today.
Even if it is a very difficult statement to make, what happened in Paris was apparently necessary to wake up the world.
It comforts me to hear both world leaders and people from all walks of life say that what happened in Paris, is not just about Paris. It comforts me to hear appeals to mourn all victims of terrorist crimes.

I saw a newsflash of Obama and Putin, gathered around a table in a hotel lobby, talking on an informal basis, out in the open, without the usual pandemonium of scheduled talks, dinners and official statements.
This encourages me to join in the fight for freedom and safety for all.

I pray the people of the world will grow to understand, we have a whole lot to do in the world, for ourselves and for each other.
I pray for world leaders and all people of the world to hold on to this thought. To wake up to the reality that we need to do this together and grant all people the opportunity to live their life in safety with opportunities in every aspect of life.

This change will not come overnight.
But let’s pray future history books, will explain how the attacks in Paris were the onset of making people aware we need to live and love together. Let’s pray that what happened in Paris will not be forgotten and pushed aside by old traditions and frames of mind that have outgrown their validity.

In that sense the terrorist attacks all over the world, causing immeasurable grief, have a lesson to teach; the lesson that our empathy, compassion and support, not only applies when something happens close to home, but also when it concerns the rest of the world.
